Over the past four seasons, between the WHL Prospect Combines and the other WHL Combine initiatives, the program has tested over 10,000 players. Designed to assist minor hockey players with their skill development utilizing a state of the art testing system, the WHL Prospect Combines will consist of a full two-day camp which will include on and off-ice testing, on and off-ice development sessions, an informative presentation on the WHL, and an end of camp scrimmage.
These unique two-day events will utilize the WHL Combine Standard Tests, the same testing done at the Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in January. Test results will be entered into the exclusive WHL Prospect Combines database that is shared and used by WHL clubs to track and identify players.
“We are excited to see Winnipeg sell out! The 2018 WHL Prospect Combines are on pace to sell out in all 5 Canadian locations. In late January, Vancouver was the first to sell out, however with the event not taking place until June, we decided to add a 3rd participating group, and re-open the availability for increased participation” commented Donnie Glennie, WHL Manger, Hockey Operations. “We fully expect Calgary, Edmonton and Regina to follow suite. Even with the expansion in Vancouver, it is still trending to sell out before the end of March.”
In respect to the value of the WHL combines as a player evaluation tool, Hockey Operations Manger, Donnie Glennie further discussed, “With such a large player data base thus far, future WHL prospects can evaluate their progress and current skills with the top players in Western Canada, which then they are able to target specific areas of their game to further develop. The greatest benefit of participating in a WHL combine is that the results are made accessible to all WHL General Managers and Head Scouts.”
Individual participants will receive additional benefit from the WHL Combine testing, including:

My time at OHA provided me an opportunity to grow as a person and athlete. Without OHA I would not have had the opportunity to play post secondary hockey. The life skills I learned at OHA are skills that I will have with me forever.
