Peña, 23, is a graduate of the Okanagan Hockey Academy, having spent the 2012-13 season playing on the OHA Female Prep team.

“We are excited to bring Payge on board as an assistant coach for our Female Varsity team,” said Ward. “As a former student of ours, she is familiar with our program and can relate well to our current students as she was once in their position prior to moving onto the collegiate level.”

After graduating from Penticton Secondary School in 2013, Peña went on to play four seasons at St. Cloud State University, where she compiled 36 points (15-21-36) in 136 career NCAA games and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Management.

Peña has been involved with the Meadow Ridge Female Minor Hockey Association the past two years as an instructor and evaluator.

Playing at OHA was an amazing opportunity. It gives you the chance to train like a pro everyday to develop your game. Playing in a great league, along with the on and off ice training gives you the upper hand on other competition. I am thankful to have had the chance to play there."
