May 28, 2018

The Okanagan Hockey Group (OHG), in partnership with the Academy for Student Athlete Development (ASAD), announced today the launch of a new Skills Academy based in Whitby, Ontario.

The Academy for Student Athlete Development Skills Academy specializes in performance training and skill development of student athletes during school hours.

“The Academy for Student Athlete Development is thrilled to partner with the Okanagan Hockey Group as we further develop our Hockey Skills stream,” said Kelly Kasper, Senior Manager, Sport, Recreation and Community Outreach. “ASAD provides local student athletes with quality programming and access to performance enhancement services that can assist them in achieving their academic and athletic goals. Partnering with world class organizations such as OHG and experienced coaches like Lorne Rappaport, strengthens our ASAD program.”

The purpose of ASAD Skills Academy is to develop personal potential and a positive attitude for student-athletes to carry into all aspects of their lives. The program will consist or approximately 47 on ice and 28 off ice sessions operating from September to June.

The lead skills provider of the ASAD Skills Academy will be conducted by Lorne Rappaport. Rappaport has been a professional hockey trainer and skills developer for more than 20 years and is the president and founder of PROBOUND Hockey, a company that specializes in elite, high performance hockey skills training and advanced player development.

Students will attend the ASAD Skills Academy in the morning and return to their home schools in the afternoon. All students will be eligible to participate on their home school sports teams.

An information session regarding the ASAD Skills Academy will take place Thursday, May 31 from 6-8pm. Click here for more details and information on how to RSVP.

Going to OHA was one of the greatest decisions I have made for my hockey career. OHA prepared me for the next level. Skating, strength, speed, conditioning. I wouldn't be the player and person that I am today if I hadn’t chosen OHA."
