The Okanagan Hockey Academy is pleased to congratulate alumnus Kienan Scott on winning the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) Okanagan Division MVP and Rookie of the Year awards.
Scott posted 56 points (32-24-56) in just 39 games this past season, helping the Summerland Steam to a division title with a record of 33-15-1-3. The Penticton, BC product also tallied five game-winning goals and seven power-play markers.
The 5-foot-10 forward netted three hat tricks throughout the season and altogether had eight multi-goal games. Scott also put together a 17-game scoring streak that lasted from October 27th to December 20th which saw him register 20 goals and eight assists.
The 18-year-old also saw action in seven British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) games in 2013-14, five of which with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs and two with the Penticton Vees.
Scott spent two seasons with the OHA Prep team, netting 112 points (49-63-112) in 91 games between the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.
Being a part of the Okanagan Hockey Academy has been an extremely rewarding and unforgettable experience. It has enabled me to gain confidence and acquire life long skills expanding beyond the game of hockey. The balance between academics and athletics is superb, allowing you to achieve your ultimate success. The academy assisted me in achieving my dream of playing hockey at the NCAA level while studying Pre-Medicine. Without this caring support group, none of this would have been possible and I am forever grateful.
