Okanagan Hockey Academy United Kingdom is a division of Okanagan Hockey School Ltd which is the longest and oldest running hockey school in the world. We have provided professional hockey instruction since 1963 with are head office located in Penticton, British Columbia. OHA UK is located in Swindon, England and is just concluding its second full season. In the 2014 – 2015 season the program will be offering a U16 team and a U18 team and we are currently looking for a Head Coach to lead one of the teams. Position Description:

The Head coach will be responsible for the development and implementation of all on-ice activities and work with the training staff on off-ice team activities and training programs. You must have strong communication, administrative, organizational and time management skills and be able to manage and maintain budgets.

The successful candidate will need to develop and implement weekly practice schedules and develop yearly practice plans. You will be responsible to oversee on-ice practice sessions, develop team tactics and strategies, prepare players for games, manage the bench in game situations, and prepare written and verbal player evaluations all meeting the overall philosophy of the organization. You will also be required to transport players as required to and from school, games etc.

As education is of the utmost importance you will be in charge of monitoring each athlete’s academic and personal progress through evaluation and progress reports. It is therefore imperative to maintain communication on school academics through our school liaison. You will be required to promote and market players for future hockey opportunities through Junior and College hockey teams.

It will be your responsibility to work with the other team during practices and games when it does not conflict and will be required to assist, attend and participate in meetings and conferences.


The successful candidate will have a post-secondary education designation, diploma or degree as well as level 3 IIHF coaching accreditation or equivalent. Experience playing at a high level is necessary. You will be required to have a criminal record check and pass a special driving licences test to transport passengers..
