Okanagan Hockey Group Vice-President Dixon Ward today announced that Tara Ashwell has been named an Athletic Therapist for the Okanagan Hockey Academy.
Ashwell joins OHA from the Olds Grizzlys of the Alberta Junior Hockey League where she spent the past two seasons as the Certified Athletic Therapist and Equipment Manager, as well as a Certified Athletic Therapist at Speers Health Clinic.
“I am excited for this new opportunity to work with the athletes and coaching staff at Okanagan Hockey,” said Ashwell.
Ashwell obtained her Bachelor of Athletic and Exercise Therapy from Camosun College in 2015 and is also certified in Soft Tissue Release Level 1 and Positional Release Therapy.
Ashwell has also served as a Certified Athletic Therapist at numerous events, such as with the BC Hockey U15 and U16 Male High Performance Program, the BC Hockey U18 Female High Performance Invitational Camp, the 2016 Alberta Cup and the Provincial Regional Rugby Championships.
Playing at OHA was an amazing opportunity. It gives you the chance to train like a pro everyday to develop your game. Playing in a great league, along with the on and off ice training gives you the upper hand on other competition. I am thankful to have had the chance to play there."
